A League of Stewardship Parishes

Promoting Stewardship as a way of life

What is stewardship?

IS A LIFESTYLE BASED ON OUR BELIEF THAT,  AS CHILDREN OF GOD, WE THANK OUR FATHER AND PRAISE HIM BY WILLINGLY TAKING CARE OF THAT WHICH DOES NOT BELONG TO US!

A stewardship parish ...

  • Is centered in Christ, emphasizing prayer and opportunities for spiritual development.
  • Celebrates Liturgy with the intention of communicating our Joy in and Thanksgiving for all of the gifts with which God has blessed us
  • Welcomes both the friend and the stranger alike into its community, emphasizing hospitality to the newcomer
  • Offers ongoing education in stewardship and servant leadership "from womb to tomb"
  • Expects its members to Tithe a portion of their gifts of time, talent and treasure both to their parish and to the larger community
  • Shares its resources of time, talent and treasure with individuals in need and the poor, both locally and in the world-at-large
  • Strives to manage those gifts of time, talent and treasure contributed by its members responsibly and effectively
  • Practices accountability to its parishioners for its use of their gifts of Ttme, talents and treasure by providing an annual report of its Stewardship to the parish

Purposes of the League of Stewardship Parishes include:

  • To educate Catholic parishes and individuals about Catholic stewardship practices
  • To facilitate the sharing of stewardship experiences, beliefs and practices
  • To provide a platform for the exchange of ideas, and a place to solve problems.
  • To provide a support network for Catholic clergy who are considering stewardship as a way of Llfe for their parishes.
  • To serve as a resource for stewardship to Catholic parishes within the Archdiocese of Denver
  • To create and maintain a resource bank of materials, speakers, programs, conferences, trainers and mentors
  • To provide resources for a newly evangelized lay person who may not be in a parish practicing stewardship

Where do we begin?

1. Seek the commitment of your pastor.  If he is already "on board", go directly to step two.  If not, call the League.

2. Assess the personality and the demographics of your parish.  Help to accomplish this isavailable through the League.

3. Get staff "buy in".   The League can help here, too.

4. Identify a stewardship coordinator.  Beprepared, it could be you!  Be not afraid...The League can help.

5. Select a Leadership Committee.  The League can help with who, what and why.

6.  Build a plan and a time-line.  Again, help is as close as a call to the League.

7.  Create a follow-up and accountability plan. The League stands ready to help!
