Library Staff
Hello! I am Betty Doyle, one of the librarians at St. Thomas More Parish School. I have been here since the school opened in 1994. The library is my favorite place, of course! I attended Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois during the 1980’s to achieve a degree in Early Childhood Education and over the last 25 years I have worked in a daycare center, preschool, kindergarten, elementary school, and high school in a variety of positions. I love children (obviously) and have three grown children and two young granddaughters. I love to read and am in a book club. I am also very involved in the St. Thomas More Parish.
I am Lori Lucas and this will be my 9th year at St. Thomas More Parish School. I have a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado; however, it took me several years to find my “dream job” as a librarian. In addition, I coach the 7th and 8th grade speech teams. Before joining the library staff, I was a teacher in the Mother’s Day Out program and a kindergarten teacher assistant. It’s a joy to be able to work with students of all ages and foster a love of reading. I enjoy family time with my husband, two teenage daughters and three dogs. I also like baseball (go Cardinals!), playing tennis and READING.I am Karen Schlipman and Catholic education has always been a big part of who I am. I attended Catholic elementary and high school in Kansas City, Missouri, then received a BA in mathematics from Saint Mary College in Kansas. I’ve taught junior high math and 5th grade. Our four children have attended Catholic schools as well. After substitute teaching at St. Thomas More Parish School the first year it opened, I was asked to become the first staff librarian the following year. Some of my hobbies include spending time with family, especially two granddaughters, cooking for people I love, growing spiritually, road trips, children’s books, and working at St. Thomas More Parish School two days a week sharing the library with awesome students and staff. I’ve learned that there are hundreds of reasons why children should read. One of the best is experiencing the hope embodied in the imperfect yet endearing heroes and heroines of each book adventure.
