Alternative Summer Break 2009
Peru!
Alternative Summer Break is an annual international mission trip for upperclassmen, so if you're in the Class of 2011 or older, think about joining us for next summer's ASB. There will be 2 information meetings about ASB 2009. Please attend one of the meetings with your parents; they are scheduled for Tuesday, October 14 and Thursday, October 16, 7:00-8:00pm (both meetings are the same - just come to one of them). Call Sue at 303-220-3388 x3 for more information.
Join us as we bring Christmas to over 600 four- and five-year-old children from the poorest areas of Denver. This is a day that will warm your heart! All high school youth are invited to help at the party - running games, playing with the kids, painting faces, facilitating arts and crafts, handing out balloons, or helping Santa himself. It's a busy day, but very much worth the effort. Please note that you will be required to miss an entire day of school to participate in the party day. We will also need several adult volunteers to help with lunch for the children.
Check back for specific details about the 2008 Project 600 event in the Fall.

Monthly Soup Kitchen
We attend the Broadway Assistance Center soup kitchen on the second Thursday of the month (click here for the calendar). Meet at the Youth Center at 3:45pm - we will be back by 8:00pm. Space is limited, so be sure to sign up on the Youth Table and grab a permission slip (or download the form from below). Call Sue in the Youth Center at 303-220-3388 for more information.
The Broadway Assistance Center is located in the basement of St. Joseph's Catholic Church downtown, on the corner of 6th Avenue and Galapagos St.
Sandwich Making is held once a month for Holy Ghost Food Line and we ask teenagers to bring a loaf of bread, meat and cheese for our efforts. We encourage kids to also bring donations. Sandwich making is usually held on the second Sunday of every month. If there is a change, it will be posted on the web site. Sandwich making is held after Breakaway from 8:45pm-9:15pm.
24 Hour Food Fast
February 27-28, 2009
7:00pm Friday - 7:00pm Saturday
Seize an opportunity to make a difference in the world around you. Join us for the Food Fast, an overnight service experience. In preparation for the event, you will gather sponsors from among your family and friends who are willing to donate money toward Catholic Relief Services International, an organization that serves in the areas of the greatest need. CRS has been instrumental in aiding victims of crises such as the tsunami in southeast Asia, Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, and AIDS in Africa. In 2008 we were able to send nearly $2000 to help Catholic Relief Services in their important efforts!
For the Fast, we'll gather at STM to spend the 24 hours together. We fast to be in solidarity with the poor (though we do take juice breaks, just to keep our mineral levels up). During our Fast, we'll spend time in local service projects, prayer, discussion, praise and worship and games. Call Sue at 303-220-3388 x3 if you have any questions.
